{"id":598841,"date":"2026-02-28T22:43:22","date_gmt":"2026-02-28T22:43:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/598841\/"},"modified":"2026-02-28T22:43:22","modified_gmt":"2026-02-28T22:43:22","slug":"the-dallas-morning-news-extends-top-10-streak-in-associated-press-sports-editors-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/598841\/","title":{"rendered":"The Dallas Morning News extends top 10 streak in Associated Press Sports Editors contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The Dallas Morning News has extended its streak among the top 10 sports sections in the nation and won recognition in five writing categories in the Associated Press Sports Editors Contest, a medal count ranking among SportsDay\u2019s largest since the competition began in 1983.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/sports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/sports\/\">SportsDay<\/a> was among eight newspapers in the largest circulation category to earn an APSE Triple Crown, winning best print portfolio, digital section and event coverage. APSE does not rank its top 10 in the section competition. Top 10 rankings for the writing awards will be announced next month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">SportsDay staffers placed in five of the competition\u2019s nine writing categories: columns, beat reporting, breaking news, event coverage and high school writing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/author\/tim-cowlishaw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/author\/tim-cowlishaw\/\">Tim Cowlishaw<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/author\/kevin-sherrington\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/author\/kevin-sherrington\/\">Kevin Sherrington<\/a> were recognized for portfolios of their columns.
