But that wasn\u2019t a problem Saturday, when Regent led 8-0 after three innings.<\/p>\n<p>Will Maloney pitched a seven-inning complete game, striking out 11 and yielding four hits and no walks. Maddox German homered, doubled, singled, drove in five runs and scored three. Colton Sandiford was 3 for 4 with three runs and two RBIs. Nathan Vaughan, Dylan Oblepias, Ben Tweedy, Ethan Loucks and James Blotter scored twice.<\/p>\n<p>The Patriots won Game 2 9-8, rallying for two runs in the eighth to overcome an 8-7 deficit. Gabriel Murphy tripled home the tying run and scored the winning run on Zack Haines\u2019 none-out single.<\/p>\n<p>Regent trailed 7-3 after six but forced an extra inning with a four-run seventh. In Game 2, German was 2 for 3 with four RBIs, Vaughan was 2 for 4 with three runs and Blotter was 2 for 3 with two runs.<\/p>\n<p>William &amp; Mary 12, Lafayette 6: Jamie Laskofski scored three runs, drove in two and walked twice at Plumeri Park as the Tribe (4-4) extended their winning streak to four with their second victory in as many days over the Leopards (0-6).<\/p>\n<p>Trey Christman was 2 for 4 with two runs, and W&amp;M pitchers struck out 15.<\/p>\n<p>Mount St. Mary\u2019s 6, Norfolk State 5: The visiting Mountaineers (4-5) clinched a series triumph over the Spartans (2-7) by going ahead 6-4 with a five-run fifth and holding on.<\/p>\n<p>Cameron Mazell belted a three-run homer in the NSU fourth, but David Stokely\u2019s grand slam in the Mount fifth proved decisive. Thomas Ealey was 3 for 5 for the Spartans.<\/p>\n<p>Down 6-4 in the ninth, NSU put runners on second and third with one out. The Mount intentionally walked Justin Journette, the Spartans\u2019 all-time leader in home runs, and forced a pair of ground balls \u2014 the first of which brought home Kydese Queen on a fielder\u2019s choice \u2014 to end the game.<\/p>\n<p>Christopher Newport 6-5, Messiah 5-3: The Captains (7-3), ranked 22nd in Newport News, won a doubleheader in Newport News, winning two of three in the series against the 15th-ranked Eagles (2-5) from Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n<p>In Game 1, Gus Croll\u2019s two-run homer capped a three-run seventh that put CNU ahead 6-5. Winner Cam Comins, Luke Baker and Marcus Dux combined for four shutout innings of relief.\u00a0Jake Benedict had two hits and two RBIs for CNU, and Logan Adams was 2 for 4 with two runs and an RBI.<\/p>\n<p>In Game 2, Cooper Newell pitched seven no-hit innings as CNU built a 5-0 lead. He struck out nine, walked five and plunked one batter. Croll was 1 for 2 and scored twice, and Creston Saunders was 2 for 4 with the Captains\u2019 only RBI.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia Wesleyan 11, Brockport 5: An eight-run fifth proved decisive for the host Marlins (8-3) as they erased a 5-1 deficit against Brockport (0-5).<\/p>\n<p>Joshua Jones and Gino Meienschein each had two hits and scored twice. James Tassone had two hits and two RBIs, Bryce Folmar scored twice and Nathan Bryant had two hits. Will Turner gained the victory with 3 1\/3 shutout innings of relief.<\/p>\n<p>Apprentice 4-6, Penn State Mont Alto 3-3: The Builders (6-1) swept a doubleheader from the Nittany Lions (0-2).<\/p>\n<p>Seth Harrison drove in two runs as the Builders rallied from a three-run deficit in the opener at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton,. Nick Redman (3-0) struck out 11 and walked two in a seven-inning three-hitter.<\/p>\n<p>Harrison\u2019s single in the third brought home Apprentice\u2019s first run. In the fifth, the Builders moved ahead with three, including Harrison\u2019s RBI double and Jaeden Anderson\u2019s go-ahead RBI single.<\/p>\n<p>In Game 2, leadoff man Nate Yeary was 3 for 4 with two runs and an RBI, and Anderson and Isaac McCallister each had two hits and RBI. Baker Green had a hit, a run, a sacrifice and a walk.<\/p>\n<p>Winner Charley Higginbotham (2-1) pitched the first 5 1\/3 innings, and Grant Stratton got the last five outs for a save without yielding a run.<\/p>\n<p>Charlotte 13, Old Dominion 0: The 49ers (6-3) routed the host Monarchs (6-3) in the opener of a rain-shortened two-game series.<\/p>\n<p>Three big innings lifted Charlotte \u2014 a four-run third, a three-run fourth and a five-run fifth. Dylan Koontz homered in the third off ODU starter Darin Kuskie, and Alec DeMartino added a two-run double in the fifth.<\/p>\n<p>Eddie Copper got the win for Charlotte, going four innings, allowing four hits and striking out two.<\/p>\n<p>Virginia 7, VCU 6, 11 innings: The Cavaliers (9-1), ranked 14th nationally by Perfect Game, won before 3,859 at Disharoon Park when Noah Murray scored in the 11th on a fielding error by the Rams\u2019 first baseman on Eric Becker\u2019s batted ball.<\/p>\n<p>Trailing 6-4 in the ninth, UVA made it 6-5 on Noah Jouras\u2019 RBI single and capitalized on an error by second baseman Cade Tousa for the tying run.<\/p>\n<p>Antonio Perrotta drove in two runs for the Cavaliers. Tousa was 3 for 5 with a run and two RBIs for the Rams (4-6).<\/p>\n<p>No. 4 Mississippi State 15, Virginia Tech 8: The Hokies (7-3) hit five home runs at Globe Life Field, the home of the Texas Rangers, but lost to a Bulldogs team that has started 11-0 in its first season under former UVA coach Brian O\u2019Connor.<\/p>\n<p>Ex-Cavalier Tomas Valincius registered seven strikeouts through 5 1\/3 innings for the win. Aidan Teel was 3 for 5.<\/p>\n<p>Three of Tech\u2019s five home runs were consecutive in the ninth inning, thanks to Anderson French, Hudson Lutterman and Sam Gates.<\/p>\n<p>Late Friday<\/p>\n<p>No. 23 Texas A&amp;M 10, Virginia Tech 0: The Hokies (7-2) fell to the Aggies (9-0) at Globe Life Field, the Texas Rangers\u2019 stadium, in the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series.<\/p>\n<p>Shane Sdao pitched six innings for the victory, striking out five and yielding four hits.
