Former New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira is running for Congress in Texas, and he has the endorsement of President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n
That is something Trump brought up when he spoke in Texas earlier this week, and something Teixeira bragged about a bit on X.<\/p>\n
\u201cGrateful to have President Trump as a supporter \u2014 and a fan,\u201d he wrote on X. \u201cThank you, Mr. President! Democrats, we\u2019ll see you on the baseball field next year.\u201d<\/p>\n
Teixeira\u2019s followers on X noticed a few things, though. Trump seemed to struggle to pronounce his name and then praised him for how hard he could throw the ball. The 45-year-old was a three-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove winner. He led the American League in home runs in 2009 and finished his career with a .268 average to go with 409 home runs and 1,298 RBIs.<\/p>\n
One thing Teixeira was not, though, was a pitcher.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrow that ball?\u201d one person replied. \u201cTrump thinks you were a pitcher. He has no clue who you are.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLmao first basemen really known for \u2018throwing that ball,\u2019\u201d another wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat fat (expletive) does not know (expletive) about your playing career lol,\u201d another wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe doesn\u2019t even know who you are Mark talkin about throwing the ball,\u201d another replied.<\/p>\n
\u201cHoly (expletive) he\u2019s never heard of you before LMAO,\u201d another wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cCould barely pronounce your name and his biggest praise was \u2018he could throw that ball,\u2019\u201d another wrote. \u201cSick dude!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cPiggy thought you were a pitcher,\u201d another wrote.<\/p>\n
Not all of the comments focused on Trump\u2019s fumbling of Teixeira\u2019s name and position, though.<\/p>\n
\u201c(Mark Teixeira) I can\u2019t stress this enough,\u201d one person wrote. \u201cYou have truly become a huge disappointment. The fact that you align yourself with a lying, cheating, racist, corrupt individual tells a lot about YOU. (Expletive) YOU.\u201d<\/p>\n
Some others focused on Epstein accusations levied against Trump while criticizing Teixeira for embracing his support. There were, of course, some who loved to see the former slugger embrace the support.<\/p>\n
Teixeira is running in Texas\u2019 21st Congressional District as he seeks to replace Chip Roy who is running for Texas Attorney General.<\/p>\n
