The El Camino College Warriors baseball team defeated the Compton College Coyotes 9-2 after recent rainstorms forced them to postpone and relocate their game to Saturday, Feb. 21 at Warriors Field in Torrance. <\/p>\n
The Warriors were originally scheduled to play the Coyotes at an away game at Compton College on Thursday, Feb. 19.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe couldn\u2019t play at home because of a wet field,\u201d said Compton head coach Shannon B. Williams<\/a>. <\/p>\n Both teams were in a standoff for five innings until a breakthrough sacrifice fly by first baseman Gil Solis<\/a> turned a low\u2011scoring afternoon into a late offensive by the seventh inning.<\/p>\n Compton\u2019s first baseman Matthew Marroquin<\/a> followed with a home run, lifting team spirits for a half\u2011finished game.<\/p>\n The Warriors ended the seventh inning with three runs. Infielder Kai Nagashima<\/a> delivered the game\u2019s pivotal swing. His two\u2011run single into right field gave the Warriors its first multi\u2011run lead at 4\u20112 by the end of the seventh inning.<\/p>\n The twice\u2011delayed bout finished with 10 hits and 12 walks, powered by home runs from Nolan Fox<\/a> and Solis and a three\u2011RBI performance from Nagashima. The Warriors also stole three bases, with successful attempts from Caden Lewis<\/a>, Kelvin Martinez<\/a> and Slater Nunez.<\/a><\/p>\n UP NEXT<\/p>\n El Camino will next play Mt.
