{"id":606143,"date":"2026-03-04T18:06:25","date_gmt":"2026-03-04T18:06:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/606143\/"},"modified":"2026-03-04T18:06:25","modified_gmt":"2026-03-04T18:06:25","slug":"phillies-announcer-injured-himself-in-wild-chainsaw-accident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/606143\/","title":{"rendered":"Phillies Announcer Injured Himself in Wild Chainsaw Accident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\">Philadelphia Phillies TV analyst Ben Davis lived to tell the tale of a wild incident involving a chainsaw at his home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Davis, 48, was attempting to deal with the trees in his yard when a near-disaster struck.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe have a lot of white pine. They\u2019re terrible trees,\u201d Davis said on the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SportsRadioWIP\/status\/2028826391865610742?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">WIP Morning Show<\/a> on Tuesday, March 2. \u201cIf the snow gets on them, they fall. I had two big ones fall. I got done cleaning up one the other day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The process of cleaning up, Davis explained, involved chopping up the trees into small pieces with a chainsaw.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t<a class=\"article__thumbnail related-ab-test\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/sports\/news\/paul-skenes-says-playing-for-team-usa-is-close-to-military-service\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-source=\"00\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/GettyImages-2233623120-Paul-Skenes-2025.jpg?crop=0px%2C0px%2C2723px%2C1539px&amp;resize=400%2C225&amp;quality=70&amp;strip=all\"   alt=\"GettyImages-2233623120 Paul Skenes 2025\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" data-fallback-img=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/GettyImages-2233623120-Paul-Skenes-2025.jpg?quality=86&amp;strip=all\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t<a class=\"article__title-link related-ab-test\" href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/sports\/news\/paul-skenes-says-playing-for-team-usa-is-close-to-military-service\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-source=\"00\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><br \/>\n    Related: Paul Skenes Argues Playing for Team USA Is \u2018Close\u2019 to Serving in Military<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\tPittsburgh Pirates pitching superstar Paul Skenes gushed about the patriotic duty of representing Team USA at the World Baseball Classic.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m from America, I love America,\u201d Skenes, 23, told MLB Network on Monday, March 2. \u201cI\u2019ve seen the [World Baseball Classics] of the past, and there\u2019s no bigger stage or no greater honor than wearing [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI was just about done [with] the second one and there was a branch that went into the ground,\u201d he continued. \u201cI snipped it and it came back and the saw cut my kneecap.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Davis said he suffered a three-inch-long cut that \u201cwent to the bone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIt\u2019s a chainsaw!\u201d Davis said as the others in the room recoiled in horror.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">WIP Morning Show cohost Joe DeCamara then explained perhaps the most insane part of Davis\u2019 ordeal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI\u2019m going to tell you something that\u2019s even more astounding than Ben taking a chainsaw to his knee,\u201d DeCamara said. \u201cHe hasn\u2019t gone to the hospital yet.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Davis confirmed that he had not been hospitalized, but wasn\u2019t overly concerned.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIt needs stitches, but I\u2019m OK,\u201d he insisted. \u201cI\u2019m fine. I got a bandage on it, it\u2019s good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">In addition to the bandages, Davis said he had cared for the wound himself with a bit of Neosporin.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI do have to keep it straight because every time I bend it, it opens up even more,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Davis acknowledged that he was \u201cvery, very fortunate\u201d that the incident wasn\u2019t worse.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cLast night, I was laying in bed with my wife and she said, \u2018I\u2019m so sorry this happened to you,\u2019 and I said, \u2018I\u2019m actually thrilled it was only as bad as it was.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Ben and his wife, Megan, share two sons and two daughters.
