On March 19, less than a week before their Opening Day showdown with the New York Yankees, the San Francisco Giants will play the Cincinnati Reds in this year\u2019s Spring Breakout game. The Spring Breakout, which is in its third year, is an exhibition made up entirely of prospects, and is one of the most exciting games of Spring Training for anyone with an interest in prospects and young talent.<\/p>\n
The Giants announced the initial roster for the exhibition on Wednesday, and it\u2019s headlined by the two consensus top prospects in the organization: first baseman Bryce Eldridge, and shortstop Josuar Gonz\u00e1lez. Perhaps just as excitingly, shortstop Luis Hern\u00e1ndez \u2014 the top prospect in the 2026 international signing period, who only recently turned 17 and has yet to make his professional debut \u2014 is included. This comes following an exciting report from Baseball America that the Giants will take the unconventional route and have Hern\u00e1ndez forego the Dominican Summer League and jump straight to the Arizona Complex League.<\/p>\n

Wednesday\u2019s reveal is a preliminary 40-player roster based on MLB Pipeline\u2019s list of the team\u2019s top 30 prospects, with additions made by the team to reach 40. The roster will then be trimmed to 23-27 players a few days before the game.<\/p>\n
