As the conversation around a <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/mlb\/new-york-mets\/mets-news-freddy-peralta-responded-contract-extension-question\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">contract extension with the Mets and Peralta<\/a> will be ongoing, the star would give insight into the length of a potential deal he&#8217;s looking for.<\/p>\n<p>According to an interview with Jon Heyman, he would say that he would <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JonHeyman\/status\/2030270308603629777\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">\u201clike a contract extension for even or eight years.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cFreddy Peralta tells [Jon Heyman] that he&#8217;d like a contract extension for \u2018seven or eight&#8217; years as he approaches the final season of his current deal,\u201d SNY Mets wrote on X, formerly Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>This comes after Peralta was traded from the Milwaukee Brewers to New York, as the team is hoping for a huge turnaround this upcoming season, which would be helped by acquiring the ace. Peralta has even expressed how <a href=\"https:\/\/sny.tv\/articles\/freddy-peralta-comfortable-mets-would-love-to-stay-long-time\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">\u201ccomfortable\u201d<\/a> he&#8217;s been with the team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really comfortable here. I\u2019m not going to lie. I\u2019d love to be here. And I\u2019d love to stay a long time,\u201d Peralta said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverything has been amazing,\u201d Peralta continued. \u201cTalking from the bottom to the top, the people in the front office, everyone \u2014 they\u2019ve been very easy for me, easy to work with, and I\u2019m just happy because I feel they have my back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There had been interest from the Mets&#8217; Freddy Peralta on an extension<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3723152\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Freddy-Peralta-of-the-New-York-Mets.jpg\" alt=\"New York Mets starting pitcher Freddy Peralta (51) looks on against the St. Louis Cardinals during the first inning at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\"  \/>Sam Navarro-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>While it remains to be seen when the <a href=\"https:\/\/clutchpoints.com\/mlb\/new-york-mets\/mets-news-ken-rosenthal-claims-freddy-peralta-extension-destiny-1-roadblock\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mets and Peralta will reach a deal<\/a>, the talk about a deal has been in the realm of conversation ever since he was traded to New York. There was always interest from the pitcher&#8217;s side, with previous reports like Sports Illustrated on Jan. 22 saying that \u201cPeralta <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/mlb\/mets\/onsi\/news\/source-freddy-peralta-open-to-signing-extension-with-mets\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">is open to signing a contract extension<\/a> with the Mets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though the last time Peralta spoke about it publicly, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SNY_Mets\/status\/2016228157196509687\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">he shifted focus to getting used to his surroundings.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just got here. I think that I&#8217;ve got to\u2026 share time with my teammates, think about different ideas, learn about everybody, coaches, the organization in general, and then we can see,\u201d Peralta said on Jan. 27, via SNY Mets.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Freddy Peralta was asked if he&#8217;s thought about a contract extension:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I just got here.
