Thankfully, the imaging came back clean, allowing the Guardians to breathe a sigh of relief, but the right-hander has yet to retake the mound in a Cactus League game.

On Monday, Stephen Vogt gave an update on where Gaddis stands in his build-up after this injury scare.

“He’s back in the building… was able to throw and work out while he was away, but he’s going to be doing his normal throwing program out to 90-120 feet. Opening Day is 15 days away for the Guardians.

That’s not a lot of time for Gaddis to get back up to speed, and there’s no world where Cleveland, or any organization for that matter, would push a pitcher back with a forearm issue because of what that could lead to.

With that in mind, Vogt was noncommittal on whether Gaddis would be ready for the start of the season.

“Worried probably isn’t the right word, but obviously we need to see how he progresses,” continued Vogt. “Obviously, he had the symptoms, and still feeling them a little bit, so we just need to see how he’s progressing through his throwing program.”

The Guardians would miss Gaddis in the event he isn’t on the Opening Day roster, but it’s more critical for Cleveland to have the right-hander on the mound and healthy toward the end of the season, not necessarily right out of the gate.

From here, it’s all about waiting to see how Gaddis continues to ramp up, and the team will determine the next steps.

Guardians Roundtable also offers a fan community and message board.
