The Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> made a quick replacement when they acquired Jesus Sanchez after Anthony Santander\u2019s injury. However, with Sanchez, the Blue Jays are starting to form an Achilles Heel, in the fact their lineup is almost all lefties.<\/p>\n

According to FanSided\u2019s Chris Landers<\/a>, they can correct this by getting a platoon bat for Sanchez, who doesn\u2019t hit lefties well. He predicts the Jays will sign an MLB vet in Tommy Pham to be the lesser of the two in the platoon.<\/p>\n

\u201cA change to his contact prescription (no, seriously) did wonders for Pham at the plate last season, and he turned in a quietly productive season after a dreadful start for the Pirates. He’s certainly not an everyday player at this point in his career, but he still has a place in the league as a righty bench bat who won’t kill you in the outfield. The Blue Jays responded to the Anthony Santander injury by nabbing Jesus Sanchez from the Astros. But Sanchez is a lefty with pretty ugly platoon splits over the course of his career. In fact, Toronto’s outfield is looking awfully left-handed overall right now, from Sanchez to Daulton Varsho to Addison Barger to Nathan Lukes. Myles Straw is a fine defender in center, and 36-year-old George Springer can still make it work in a pinch, but the Jays could use another bat who could serve as the short side of a platoon. Pham fits that role to a tee,\u201d Landers wrote.<\/p>\n

This past season, Pham slashed .245\/.330\/.370\/.700 with 17 doubles, 10 home runs, and 52 RBI in 120 games. Put him in as a platoon bat, and his numbers could even improve.<\/p>\n

Pham\u2019s market value<\/a> projects him to receive a one-year, $6.7 million deal. For Toronto, that\u2019s an incredibly easy contract to justify for what he brings.<\/p>\n

Hopefully, the Jays realize that their left-heaviness could be their Achilles Heel, and work on getting Pham onto their team ASAP.<\/p>\n
