Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Brock Stewart is progressing in his recovery after missing most of the second half with LA last season.<\/p>\n

Stewart came from the Minnesota Twins at the trade deadline<\/a> last season in exchange for James Outman, returning to the Dodgers after being designated for assignment in 2019. He made 43 appearances in total last season, 39 of which came with the Twins. He had a 2.38 ERA with Minnesota, allowing just nine runs in 34 innings pitched.<\/p>\n

The right-hander made four appearances for the Dodgers last season, allowing two runs in 3.2 innings pitched. Stewart landed on the injured list after his fourth appearance and underwent surgery towards the end of the regular season, keeping him out for the remainder of the year.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Orange County Register\u2019s Bill Plunkett <\/a>revealed Stewart is targeting a return ahead of the All-Star break in 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cReliever Brock Stewart continues to progress in his recovery from shoulder surgery last September,\u201d Plunkett said<\/a>. \u201cHe threw another bullpen session Tuesday, his second using his full pitch mix.<\/p>\n

\u201cStewart still has to progress through multiple bullpen sessions to facing hitters in live batting practice and then getting into games on a minor-league injury-rehabilitation assignment. But he is on track to return in the first half of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart was the Dodgers\u2019 biggest acquisition at last year\u2019s deadline, and added a much needed right-hander to their ranks.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers\u2019 have several options out of the bullpen now, such as Edwin Diaz and Blake Treinen, but those two are the only MLB-proven, experienced arms in their relief corps.<\/p>\n

Since his return to MLB in 2023, Stewart has a 2.44 ERA across 87 appearances. He has completely revived his career since making the transition back to MLB from an independent league, and will surely play a high-leverage role if he can maintain that form when he returns to the Dodgers.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers do have several players moving up through the ranks, though, so Stewart will have to be at the top of his game if he wants to keep his spot in the team.<\/p>\n
