{"id":6275,"date":"2025-05-06T22:03:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-06T22:03:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/6275\/"},"modified":"2025-05-06T22:03:09","modified_gmt":"2025-05-06T22:03:09","slug":"yankees-giancarlo-stanton-takes-live-bp-but-rehab-plans-still-unclear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/6275\/","title":{"rendered":"Yankees\u2019 Giancarlo Stanton takes live BP, but rehab plans still unclear"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.baseball-reference.com\/players\/s\/stantmi03.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Giancarlo Stanton<\/a> took live batting practice in front of reporters for the first time on Tuesday, but Aaron Boone stopped short of characterizing the session as a significant step toward the designated hitter starting a rehab assignment.<\/p>\n<p>Stanton, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2025\/03\/08\/yankees-giancarlo-stanton-severe-elbow-injury-season-ending-surgery\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">slowly working his way back from double tennis elbow<\/a>, faced Jake Cousins at Yankee Stadium. Cousins, recovering from a right flexor strain, totaled 15 pitches against Stanton and J.C. Escarra.<\/p>\n<p>Stanton grounded out in his first at-bat and drew a walk in his second.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought his at-bats were really good,\u201d Boone said. \u201cCousins is not an easy at-bat, for a righty especially. And I thought Cousins looked good. He\u2019ll also do some on-field hitting off a high-velocity machine and continue his running progression.<\/p>\n<p>Boone did not offer much insight into when Stanton, who missed all of spring training, could begin a rehab assignment or how long such an assignment might take.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know what exactly his rehab assignment will look like. Might be a little different than everyone else\u2019s because we don\u2019t need the fielding component,\u201d Boone said, as Stanton hasn\u2019t played the outfield in some time.<\/p>\n<p>Boone previously mentioned the end of May, which is when Stanton\u2019s 60-day injured list designation expires, when discussing the slugger\u2019s timeline.
