Konnor Griffin is only 19, but there\u2019s a very real chance<\/a> he\u2019ll be the Pittsburgh Pirates\u2019 starting shortstop on Opening Day next Thursday.<\/p>\n

That would be a lot of pressure for most 19-year-olds, but not Griffin, who everyone says is wise beyond his years.<\/p>\n

That includes teammate Bubba Chandler, who praised Griffin\u2019s maturity<\/a> on Tuesday\u2019s episode of \u201cFoul Territory.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI love KG\u2026 It\u2019s kind of insane. Very fortunate to get to know him, get to know his wife\u2026 They don\u2019t act like they\u2019re 19, and that\u2019s cool. I think that\u2019s pretty sweet,\u201d Chandler said in an interview with former catcher A.J. Pierzynski. \u201cYou\u2019re gonna see it\u2026 He\u2019s gonna go dominate wherever he\u2019s at. It\u2019s gonna be fun to watch. Can\u2019t wait to be teammates with him one day.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about Griffin potentially making the Opening Day roster, Chandler sounded excited by the possibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019d be sick. That\u2019d be really cool,\u201d Chandler told Pierzynski. \u201cI\u2019ve thoroughly enjoyed watching him play\u2026 Super stoked that we have him, super stoked to see where he ends up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chandler\u2019s only 23 himself and was previously a top prospect as well, so he knows exactly what Griffin is going through. He debuted late last season and is expected to open the year in Pittsburgh\u2019s rotation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

If both pan out, they could be Pirates teammates for a long time.<\/p>\n
