Since his major league debut in 2023, Walker has seen the optimism about his abilities fade into pessimism about whether he really can be fixed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">I asked the question of what you would do if you were President of Baseball Operations Chaim Bloom regarding Jordan Walker\u2019s future. We have to figure it out. When I say I\u2019m committed to it, I need to think of a stronger word to make sure that this dude figures it out\u2026with us\u2026because there\u2019s a real skill set there, but I do feel like we missed some time in getting to where we\u2019re at now. I wished we would have gotten to this point sooner. What I mean by that where there\u2019s real vulnerability of what has actually happened\u2026how do we feel\u2026how are we gonna get on the other side of this to create real change\u2026not just say we\u2019re working on something, (but) six months later it looks very similar. I feel like we\u2019re finally at a point where that\u2019s happening. It could be a month before we feel good about it\u2026it could be three months before we feel good about it\u2026I may feel good about it in 3 hours\u2026.I don\u2019t know. I like where we\u2019re at with what\u2019s taking place. There\u2019s a real responsibility on both ends here\u2026on mine, on Brownie and that whole hitting department\u2026to unlock what he\u2019s capable of\u2026and there\u2019s real responsibility on (Jordan\u2019s) end, too\u2026of carrying the work that he\u2019s doing into the game. We\u2019re doing everything possible for that to be the case\u2026but this is one that has not gone well and we need it to go well. It also felt like there is frustration from the Cardinals management that Jordan didn\u2019t get to the point where he\u2019s accepting coaching direction quicker. When he emphasized that he hopes that Jordan Walker figures out his problems \u201cwith us\u201d, I got the feeling that Walker not being \u201cwith us\u201d might be a possibility. Everyone realizes his immense talent and potential high ceiling, but I\u2019ve heard it said that one skill he has never really displayed is a true command of the strike zone. Yes, that can be taught, but there also needs to be something built into the player\u2019s instincts about pitch recognition as part of his approach. I\u2019m not the only one questioning if that is something that Jordan Walker can acquire.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1nfb3k4i _16w9vov1 _16w9vov0 ls9zuh1\">Jordan Walker still has one more option left and I really hope the team makes use of it and has him start the season at Triple A Memphis. Why not start Nelson Vel\u00e1zquez who has had an excellent Spring or Nathan Church? I don\u2019t want to witness Jordan Walker trying to figure this out in front of a Busch Stadium crowd again because I believe the patience of the fanbase is spent. No matter if the previous St. Louis Cardinals management rushed him through the minor league system too quickly or not, the time for a solution is now. The runway for Jordan Walker is ending soon.
