The Marlins fans who watched games on FanDuel Sports Florida last season “can feel confident that they will be able to watch the games on their same provider this season, even though no agreements have been signed,” according to Barry Jackson of the MIAMI HERALD. The club, after moving its rights from Main Street Sports Group to MLB Media, are “very optimistic” that providers that carried the FanDuel RSNs will also “strike a deal with MLB to carry Marlins games on a stand-alone channel.” However, fans who subscribe to providers that do not carry the FanDuel networks “should have far less confidence.” There will not “be complete clarity until MLB announces all of the deals it has struck for the handful of teams leaving FanDuel.” At that time, the Marlins will “disclose the channel number where games will air on the cable and satellite providers that agree to carry the games.” It will also be known at that time if “there will be an extra cost, beyond your cable or satellite subscription, to watch those games.” There is “expected to be an extra charge.” The Marlins also plan to “simulcast the maximum-permitted 10 games on a local over-the-air station,” with WFOR-CBS and WBFS-CW “in play for those games” (MIAMI HERALD, 3/18).

BUILDING UP: In Cleveland, Joe Scalzo wrote the Guardians are “looking to build on” last year’s move to CLEGuardians.TV as their primary direct‑to‑consumer option. The team “surpassed 63,000 streaming subscribers in Year 1, reaching fans across its entire viewing territory” and has already “more than doubled its subscriber base compared to this time last year.” The broadcast itself “will look largely the same,” as games will again be produced by MLB and “distributed across cable, streaming and over-the-air platforms.” Play-by-play announcer Matt Underwood, analyst Rick Manning and reporter Andre Knott are all returning back to the broadcast team. The Guardians will also continue its over-the-air partnership with WKYC, “airing 10 games this season — most on Friday nights — giving fans a consistent, free option to tune in.” By eliminating in-market blackouts and offering a standalone streaming option, the Guardians were able to “reach a broader — and younger — audience,” with streaming viewers “averaging in their 30s compared to a linear TV audience in their 50s” (CRAIN’S CLEVELAND BUSINESS, 3/19).

The Marlins fans who watched games on FanDuel Sports Florida last season “can feel confident that they will…

[2395
5,6035,1296,1816,778,58,4171,4
post-633943","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-miami-marlins","tag-baseball","tag-deals","tag-entertainment","tag-marlins","tag-miami","tag-miami-marlins","tag-miamimarlins","tag-mlb
["GET
