Opening Day of the 2026 MLB season is right around the corner, and teams will start making their final cuts to trim the roster down to 26 players.<\/p>\n

The Los Angeles Angels<\/a> have plenty of question marks, and a new one popped up after the injury report for newly acquired pitcher Grayson Rodriguez<\/a>. He might start the season on the Injured List, which would open up a temporary spot on the rotation.<\/p>\n

With Spring Training wrapping up, manager Kurt Suzuki has some decisions to make, and he already sent some players down on Friday.<\/p>\n

The Angels optioned left-handed pitcher Mich Farris to Triple-A Salt Lake, and they reassigned the following players to minor league camp, per the team’s PR account on X.<\/p>\n

Catcher Sebastian Rivero,<\/p>\n

Perhaps the most notable name on this list is Mancini<\/a>, who spent a large chunk of his career with the Baltimore Orioles.<\/p>\n

Mancini missed the 2020 season after having surgery to remove a malignant tumor from his colon, but returned in 2021 in a big move before the Orioles traded him to the Houston Astros.<\/p>\n

Mancini was part of the Astros’ World Series-winning team in 2022, and he played with the Chicago Cubs in 2023.<\/p>\n

Mancini then signed a minor league deal with each of the Miami Marlins, Arizona Diamondbacks and Cincinnati Reds over the past few years before signing with the Angels this offseason.<\/p>\n

Mancini’s numbers have dropped considerably since the 2021 campaign, but he could be a solid veteran call-up at some point in the season.<\/p>\n

The Angels sent two other players down on Thursday, so the roster is starting to come into focus just days before Opening Day.<\/p>\n

Another interesting move was the decision to reassign Klassen to minor league camp. The injury news to Rodriguez opened up a spot in the rotation for now, and there were discussions that Klassen could be an option for that No. 5 spot.<\/p>\n

Jack Kochanowicz and Sam Aldegheri were also considered, and Manoah figures to be in line for a spot in the Opening Day rotation, at least for now.<\/p>\n

Klassen, 24, has yet to make his MLB debut, but he is one of the top prospects in the Angels system, so maybe they want to groom him a little more before throwing him into the fire at the MLB level.<\/p>\n
