Area Prep Baseball Report for Saturday, March 21<\/p>\n

Sean Temple has served Riverdale High School and Jefferson Parish in superb fashion.<\/p>\n

Temple tutored young high school students in the parish in television reporting skills for many years through JP Sports Flash while serving as an educator, athletic director and head baseball coach at Riverdale. Temple still produces a 10-minute news program daily with students which is streamed. <\/p>\n

That service continues in outstanding fashion and Temple reached an outstanding milestone Friday.<\/p>\n

Riverdale drilled John Ehret 11-1 in a game shortened to six innings at Mike Miley Stadium Friday in a District 10-5A contest.<\/p>\n

The win was the 200th for Temple in his fine 14-year career as the head coach at Riverdale.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did not realize until right before the season that I was close to 200 wins,\u201d Temple said. \u201cI don\u2019t get to swing the bat, pitch it or field it. Without our players, I never get to this. We don\u2019t always get the most talented guys. We help develop guys and they have done a fantastic job, working so hard to achieve wins.
I will see a lot of our former players at our alumni game today.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Rebels led 2-1 after one inning and 3-1 after four innings.<\/p>\n

Riverdale erupted for eight runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to end it.<\/p>\n

The Rebels allowed just one hit. <\/p>\n

Sky Ramos went five hitless innings with one walk and seven strikeouts. Jojo Fishpaw pitched one inning, allowing a run on a hit.<\/p>\n

Jamarri Williams had a double and drove in two runs while Cole Moses had two hits and an RBI to pace Riverdale. Alexis Munoz and Maddox Dufour and Jacob Barbin each drove in a run. <\/p>\n

Sylas Rood took the loss for the Patriots. Jeremiah Johnson had the lone hit, an RBI single in the first inning for Ehret.<\/p>\n

Riverdale (10-8, 2-0), which has won three straight games, returns to district play Tuesday against East Jefferson while John Ehret (8-15, 1-1) is back in action this morning at St. Charles Catholic at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did not get to this alone,\u201d Temple said. \u201cI have had many different assistants who have helped. I am blessed to be here. It is not about the number of wins, it is about helping develop young men. Baseball is the vehicle to make young men better men. We want to win our district and host a playoff game. That is the immediate goal.\u201d<\/p>\n
