{"id":639077,"date":"2026-03-23T15:25:26","date_gmt":"2026-03-23T15:25:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/639077\/"},"modified":"2026-03-23T15:25:26","modified_gmt":"2026-03-23T15:25:26","slug":"huskers-move-win-streak-to-13-with-sweep-of-spartans-sports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/639077\/","title":{"rendered":"Huskers move win streak to 13 with sweep of Spartans | Sports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>EAST LANSING, MI &#8211; The No. 9 Nebraska softball team scored 13 runs on 16 hits and allowed no runs by Michigan State, and downed the Spartans 13-0 Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Nine different Huskers posted a hit, led by\u00a0Kacie Hoffmann\u00a0with a career-high four hits.\u00a0Jordy Frahm,\u00a0Samantha Bland,\u00a0Jesse Farrell\u00a0and\u00a0Alexis Jensen\u00a0each had two. Frahm and Jensen added three RBI apiece and Bland and Hoffmann each contributed two.\u00a0Hannah Camenzind\u00a0and\u00a0Hannah Coor\u00a0each hit a triple, and Bland, Farrell and Jensen all had doubles. Frahm, Jensen and\u00a0Ava Kuszak\u00a0each went yard once for the Big Red.<\/p>\n<p>Jensen also grabbed the win in the circle. She threw a complete-game shutout with only one hit and seven strikeouts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kuszak opened the scoring with a solo homer in the top of the second. Coor knocked a triple and eventually scored on a Hoffmann RBI single. Frahm singled and\u00a0Lauren Camenzind, who pinch ran for Hoffmann, went to second. L. Camenzind crossed the plate on a Bland hit to put the Husker lead at 3-0.<\/p>\n<p>NU extended the lead to 4-0 in the top of the fourth on a Bland double that scored Hoffmann, who singled earlier in the inning.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan State mounted a threat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the fourth, but Bland recorded a pair of outs to help keep the Spartans scoreless.<\/p>\n<p>In the top of the fifth, Farrell hit a leadoff double and Jensen homered to make the score 6-0. Hoffmann singled then went to third on a pair of walks and eventually scored on an MSU error.<\/p>\n<p>H. Camenzind tripled to open the top of the sixth and scored on a Farrell single. Farrell crossed the plate on a Jensen RBI double, and Caneda came in to pinch run for Jensen. Hoffmann\u2019s fourth hit of the day sent Caneda across the plate before Felix singled and Frahm hit a three-run shot to make the lead 13-0.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the day, the Huskers team earned its 13th straight win on Saturday, a 4-1 victory that sealed a series sweep over Michigan State.<\/p>\n<p>The Huskers are now 24-5 on the season with a perfect 6-0 record in Big Ten competition.<\/p>\n<p>Coor logged four hits for the Big Red offense, while\u00a0Kuszak added three and\u00a0Jensen had two. Kuszak, Coor,\u00a0Hoffman and\u00a0Farrell each posted an RBI, while Farrell homered and\u00a0Bland hit a double.<\/p>\n<p>Kylee Magee\u00a0grabbed the win in the circle, her first of the season. She threw the first four innings for the Huskers and allowed one unearned run on one hit. She also struck out a season-high six batters.\u00a0Frahm earned her seventh save of the season after tossing a scoreless final three innings. Her seven saves tie the single-season record, set by\u00a0Rhonda Revelle\u00a0in 1983.<\/p>\n<p>Jensen, Kuszak and Coor registered three straight singles to load the bases in the top of the second, and Jensen scored on a Hoffmann groundout to give NU a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan State added a run in the bottom of the second to tie the score at 1-1, but Farrell homered in the top of the third to get NU the advantage back at 2-1. Jensen and Kuszak singled and the two went to second and third, respectively, on a Spartan error, and Jensen scored on a Coor single.<\/p>\n<p>The Big Red logged another insurance run on a Kuszak RBI single in the top of the seventh.<\/p>\n<p>The Huskers will return home to Bowlin Stadium for a three-game series against UCLA next weekend. The first game on Friday, March 27, is set for 8 p.m. (CT) and will be televised on FS1.
