The Detroit Tigers<\/a> have added another right-handed pitcher to the organization, via the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Seabold activated an opt-out in his Blue Jays contract when it turned out that he wouldn’t make the MLB roster.<\/p>\n

On Monday, the Tigers signed him to a deal, according to The Athletic’s Cody Stavenhagen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Tigers have signed RHP Connor Seabold to a split contract worth $800k at the MLB level,” Stavenhagen wrote on X. “To make room on the 40-man, Beau Brieske has been placed on the 60-day IL with a left adductor strain.”<\/p>\n

Seabold has spent time in the organizations of the\u00a0Philadelphia Phillies<\/a>,\u00a0Boston Red Sox<\/a>,\u00a0Colorado Rockies<\/a>,\u00a0Tampa Bay Rays<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Atlanta Braves<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He most recently pitched in the majors for Atlanta in 2025, putting up a 9.82 ERA in four appearances.<\/p>\n

He also pitched three games for the Rays in 2025 with a 1.35 ERA.<\/p>\n

He spent the 2024 season in the Korea Baseball Organization. Before that, he pitched for the Rockies in 2023, a 7.52 ERA in 27 outings.<\/p>\n

In 2021 and 2022, Seabold had major league time with the Red Sox, his first two MLB seasons — a 6.00 ERA in just one outing in 2021, then an 11.29 ERA in five outings in 2022.<\/p>\n

All added up, Seabold has a career 7.79 ERA at the MLB level. In the minor leagues, he has a 4.16 ERA. That lone year in Korea yielded a 3.43 ERA for Seabold.<\/p>\n

He strikes out 7.3 batters per nine innings at the MLB level and walks 3.3 per nine.<\/p>\n

Seabold isn’t likely to have a big role with the Tigers, but he’ll be usable depth if they need him at some point this season.<\/p>\n
