There were 13 winners — one for each homestand — and the prizes ranged from $29,083 to $104,943.

Cullen Maxey, the Royals’ president of business operations, said the plan is to have the 50/50 Raffle at all 81 home games.

“We are going to do everything we can to continue to grow our opportunity to give back to the community in the ways it’s most needed,” Maxey said earlier this year. “One of our largest opportunities to do that is our 50/50 Raffle, which obviously we give our fans a chance to be a part of. We are going to expand that this year, where we give away a jackpot every single night.

“So rather than 13 opportunities over the year, because it was done at the end of a homestand, the opportunity will be every single night we will give away a jackpot.”

Maxey’s hope is the raffle will give Royals fans a little something extra to enjoy when at Kauffman Stadium.

Plus, Maxey said the charitable benefit is important.

“It just allows everyone to have some fun,” Maxey said. “With our bigger crowds, you’ll see it grow to levels that will be pretty exciting. And when it’s a smaller jackpot on any given night, that’s fine. I guess that means your chances of winning just went up a little bit. But it’s fun. I’ve seen it firsthand to be able to hand out something every single night and really engage the fan base.

“And what we want to do is it hopefully grows our total giving as well, because that’s obviously why we do it.“

Related Stories from Kansas City Star

                Pete Grathoff

                    The Kansas City Star

From covering the World Series to the World Cup, Pete Grathoff has done a little bit of everything since joining The Kansas City Star in 1997.

Fans streamed into the stadium before Game 3 of the American League Division Series on Wednesday, Oct. 9,…

[2387
51808,5,82108,936,2123,55,2596,2595,3183,4,252,71794
post-641906","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-kansas-city-royals","tag-50-50-raffle","tag-baseball","tag-game-night-jackpot","tag-kansas","tag-kansas-city","tag-kansas-city-royals","tag-kansascity","tag-kansascityroyals","tag-kauffman-stadium","tag-mlb","tag-royals","tag-royals-foundation
["GET
