Baseball\u2019s opening night was anything but ordinary at Oracle Park<\/a>. As a spine-tingling Star-Spangled Banner was delivered by Retired serviceman Generald Wilson.<\/p>\n

The epic performance ended <\/a>with a military flyover and a drone pyrotechnic show that painted the American flag across the sky. <\/p>\n

\u201cGuy KILLED the National Anthem. Wow! What a powerful voice. Beautifully done!\u201d one fan said. \u201cThe American flag drone display was pretty awesome too.\u201d<\/p>\n

One supporter asked: \u201cWas that the greatest national anthem of all time?\u201d Another called it the \u201cbest anthem in years,\u201d adding that the rendition gave them \u201cgoosebumps,\u201d while one fan wrote on social media: \u201cStraight chills. Best way to start the 2026 season!\u201d<\/p>\n

The New York Yankees roared to a 7-0 win<\/a> \u2014 but Netflix\u2019s broadcast didn\u2019t hit a home run with viewers, who slammed subscription hurdles and awkward promos for \u2018Wednesday.\u2019<\/p>\n

The streaming service broadcast the performance as part of its first-ever live MLB game, anchored by former ESPN host Elle Duncan and featuring Giants legend Barry Bonds<\/a>, WWE superstar John Cena, and NFL QB Jameis Winston.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for Netflix, fans were not impressed with its coverage. \u201cNetflix broadcasting a baseball game to the whole country in an absurd marketing stunt at the start of the MLB season,\u201d one critic wrote on X.<\/p>\n

Baseball lovers balked at adding yet another subscription on top of cable. \u201cLooking forward to NOT being able to watch my Giants play the Yanks on opening day tonight thanks to Netflix, despite paying the annual fee for the baseball app,\u201d one fan wrote. \u201cMLB is just as bad as football. Gotta have like 4 diff streaming services if you wanna actually see all games.\u201d<\/p>\n
