HOUSTON \u2013 There are Astros fans, and then there\u2019s John David.<\/p>\n
The Houston man recently returned from a 16-month journey across the globe, and he didn\u2019t go anywhere without his Houston Astros flag in hand.<\/p>\n
\u201cWin or lose, I am an Astros fan for life,\u201d David said.<\/p>\n
David visited more than 100 countries across six continents, snapping a photo with the flag at every stop. The trip sparked conversations in languages he didn\u2019t even speak, proof, he says, that baseball is a universal language.<\/p>\n
\u201cSports are a way to bring people from different places together, to celebrate something they love together,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
To fund the adventure, David made a bold financial move.<\/p>\n
\u201cI took my 401K and turned it into a 401\u2019M\u2019… the \u2018M\u2019 is for memories,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Even more, David didn\u2019t just document the journey in photos. He made it permanent.<\/p>\n
\u201cI decided to memorialize my entire trip by getting a tattoo of each country that I visited,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
His body now serves as a full display of every country he visited, each one tied to that iconic Astros flag.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s the story of a lifetime,\u201d David said.<\/p>\n
Now, David\u2019s mission is to officially bring the flag home for good, and hand it off to the team that inspired it all.<\/p>\n
For him, Astros pride isn\u2019t something that stays inside the ballpark. It\u2019s something you carry with you, no matter where in the world you are.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was just one of those experiences, so proud to be from Houston and representing my favorite baseball team. Just an unforgettable memory,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
