The 2026 MLB season began in earnest on Thursday, after the New York Yankees\u2019 Opening Night 7-0 win over the San Francisco Giants<\/a> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

There were 11 games on tap Thursday, and it proved to be an eventful day. Things began with perhaps the most surprising inning of the season, as the New York Mets chased Pittsburgh Pirates ace Paul Skenes after just two outs in what ended up being an 11-7 Mets win<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We also saw historic dominance from Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski<\/a>, the end of Tyler O\u2019Neill\u2019s Opening Day home run streak<\/a> and perhaps the most impressive collection of MLB debuts ever<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The defending champion Los Angeles Dodgers also did little to diminish the idea that they are a juggernaut, trouncing the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-2 after unveiling their 2025 World Series championship banner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Six teams still have yet to play this season, but they\u2019ll all get started on Friday.<\/p>\n

The Mariners didn\u2019t wait long to respond. Luke Raley leads off the bottom of the fifth by crushing a first-pitch cutter from Tanner Bibee for a game-tying solo homer.<\/p>\n

We have a back-and-forth game in Seattle. Rhys Hoskins and Daniel Schneemann led off the fifth inning with back-to-back hits off Logan Gilbert, then Brayan Rocchio drove them in with a double to make it 3-2 Cleveland.<\/p>\n

On a day filled with standout debuts from rookies<\/a>, Chase DeLauter wasn\u2019t going to be left out. The Guardians\u2019 right fielder hit a solo home run off Mariners starter Logan Gilbert in the top of the first.<\/p>\n

DeLauter debuted in the 2025 postseason, so that was his first regular-season MLB at-bat.<\/p>\n
