Many teams could use his services, and he could be a dependable middle-of-the-rotation pitcher.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/mlb\/san-diego-padres\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">San Diego Padres<\/a> are one of those teams, as FanSided\u2019s <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/fansided.com\/mlb\/mlb-rumors-insider-ron-cubs-extensions-lucas-giolito-s-market-and-more\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Robert Murray<\/a> points out they could use some depth in their rotation behind Michael King and Nick Pivetta.<\/p>\n<p>MORE:\u00a0<a target=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/mlb\/philadelphia-phillies\/news\/phillies-predicted-part-ways-72-million-all-star-ace-season-replace-him-zack-wheeler-upon-his-return\/ad963b91757a0f932f0b09ba\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Phillies predicted to part ways with $72 million All-Star ace this season, replace him with Zack Wheeler upon his return<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy isn\u2019t Lucas Giolito signed yet? Frankly, I\u2019m not sure anyone in baseball knows right now. But Giolito, 31, is not on a Major League roster on Opening Day \u2014 and no one could have predicted that\u2026The San Diego Padres continue to make sense as a destination with the team needing pitching depth. There are plenty of others that make sense, too, and it is baffling that no team is stepping up to sign the right-hander given his track record,\u201d Murray wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This past season, Giolito posted a 10-4 record, a 3.41 ERA, 121 Ks, and a WHIP of 1.290 over 145 innings pitched. They could get him on a rental, or maybe a short-term, high AAV deal. However, with San Diego\u2019s financial woes, the former option seems more realistic.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully, the Padres see the opportunity in front of them, and jump on it.
