The Columbus Clippers were the first of the affiliates to start their season, falling to the Iowa Cubs by a score of 2 to 5.<\/p>\n
The first hit of the Clippers season belonged to Juan Brito, who hit a 2-out double in the top of the first.<\/p>\n
The Clippers scored both runs in the 7th frame of the game. With one out, Juan Brito hit another double to left. Kahlil Watson drew a 2-out walk, followed by singles from Stuart Fairchild and Cooper Ingle. Cooper\u2019s single scored both Brito and Watson.<\/p>\n
The Clippers offense drew a fair amount of walks, 8 total. Stuart Fairchild, Cooper Ingle, and Milan Tolentino drew 2 walks each. The team also had 8 hits with Juan Brito hitting two doubles and a single in his 5 at bats. Travis Bazzana hit a double in the 8th for his first hit of the season.<\/p>\n
Ryan Webb, the starting pitcher, earned the loss having given up an earned run in the 3rd inning. Tommy Mace threw 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, but Jack Jasiak allowed 4 runs which proved insurmountable by the offense.
