It\u2019s only taken the Seattle Mariners two games to achieve a wild stat that hasn\u2019t happened in over a century, if ever.<\/p>\n

The M\u2019s have yet to hit a single through their first two games. According to MLB.com\u2019s Sarah Langs<\/a>, they\u2019re the first team since at least 1900 to start its season without a single in its first two games. They\u2019re also just the ninth team to go without a single in any two-game span and the first since the 2021 Chicago Cubs.<\/p>\n

Seattle (1-1 record) has nine hits through two games, with six home runs, two doubles and one triple. The team hit at least one single in every game last season.<\/p>\n

The fact that the Mariners have hit six home runs without a single is wild in itself. But perhaps even more surprising is they recorded a triple before a single while playing both games a T-Mobile Park.<\/p>\n

T-Mobile Park is the hardest park in the league to hit triples in by a fairly wide margin with a park factor score<\/a> of 52 (100 is average). That\u2019s 28th out of 28 ballparks on the list. The next-closest park is Yankee Stadium at 63. The Mariners hit nine triples as a team last year, with just three of those coming at T-Mobile Park.<\/p>\n

The Mariners received a little help getting their triple on Friday night. Leo Rivas pulled a flyball into right field that Guardians rookie Chase DeLauter nearly made a tough running catch on but couldn\u2019t quite corral, as it popped out of his glove and allowed Rivas to race to third for a leadoff triple in the bottom of the third inning.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

There may have also been a little help from the hometown scorekeeper in achieving the no-singles-through-two-games stat. During opening day on Thursday, Randy Arozarena hit a sharp, low line drive to left-center field that Guardians left fielder Angel Martinez was in position to cut off but let go between his legs. Arozarena hustled into second for what was scored a double but could have went the other way as a single and an error.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The Mariners face the Guardians in their third game of the season at 6:40 p.m. on Saturday. Radio coverage can be heard on Seattle Sports 710 AM and the Seattle Sports app starting with the pregame show at 5:30 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n
