Game 3 of 162 features the first look at the Seattle Mariners\u2019 lineup against a left-handed starter, and it looks quite a bit different with new Mariner Rob Refsnyder hitting at the top of the order in his team debut.<\/p>\n

Refsnyder is batting first as the designated hitter against Cleveland Guardians left-hander Joey Cantillo. Victor Robles is also making his season debut batting seventh as the right fielder.<\/p>\n

Refsnyder is the last of the four new Mariners who were on the opening day roster to make their team debut.<\/p>\n

With Refsnyder hitting first, third baseman Brendan Donovan slid from the leadoff spot to sixth in the order. Switch-hitting shortstop Leo Rivas also moved up from ninth to eighth, swapping spots with second baseman Cole Young.<\/p>\n

Below is a look at the rest of the lineup as right-hander Bryan Woo makes his first start coming off an All-Star 2025 campaign.<\/p>\n

The Mariners brought Refsnyder in during the offseason to help balance a lineup that gets very left-handed heavy when at full strength. The Mariners had five left-handed bats in their lineup against right-handed starters in their first two games, and that number will grow to six left-handed-hitting regulars when shortstop J.P. Crawford returns from the injured list, which the team believes could be as soon as its first road trip<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Refnsyder, who signed a one-year, $6.25 million contract, has been among baseball\u2019s best hitters against left-handed pitching over the past four seasons. The 35-year-old veteran has .312\/.407\/.516 slash line for a .924 OPS in 501 plate appearances against southpaws since the start of 2022. He entered the season ranked third among all MLB hitters in on-base percentage against lefties over that span (min. 400 plate appearances), trailing only Aaron Judge and Paul Goldschmidt. He also ranked sixth in batting average, 16th in slugging percentage and seventh in OPS against lefties.<\/p>\n
