He has three singles in eight at-bats over the first two games this year.<\/p>\n<p>ROCKIES STARTER\u2019S REPORT<\/p>\n<p>For four innings, Michael Lorenzen did well at damage control. He allowed five hits and plunked a pair of Marlins, driving his pitch count up to 81 heading into the fifth, but left two runners stranded in the second, third and fourth innings, only allowing a single run on a sacrifice fly.<\/p>\n<p>But it all crumbled in the fifth inning, with a one-out single by Agust\u00edn Ram\u00edrez followed by a cutter that settled on the inside corner of the zone, allowing Liam Hicks to club it over the right-field wall for the game-tying homer.<\/p>\n<p>Lorenzen\u2019s two hit batters were his most since he hit two Orioles on June 29, 2024 \u2014 41 starts ago. It was the second-straight day that Colorado\u2019s starter went 4 1\/3 innings after <a href=\"https:\/\/denversports.com\/mlb\/colorado-rockies\/rockies-recap-32726\/2129501\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kyle Freeland\u2019s start Friday.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>BITS AND PIECES<\/p>\n<p>IT WAS DECIDED FOR THE ROCKIES WHEN: Fairbanks retired Rumfield, Ryan Ritter and Brenton Doyle on nine pitches in the ninth.<\/p>\n<p>NUMBER TO NOTE: .105 \u2014 Average for the final three spots in the order the last two days, as the 7, 8 and 9 spots are a collective 2-for-19.<\/p>\n<p>WHAT\u2019S NEXT: Jos\u00e9 Quintana gets his first Rockies start as the team looks to avoid being swept in its opening series for the first time since 1994.
