Rockies Report, Game 2:<\/p>\n

ROCKIES BOTTOM LINE: Rookie first baseman TJ Rumfield<\/a> and shortstop Ezequiel Tovar<\/a> delivered the Rockies\u2019 first two home runs of the season to put them in front after four innings.<\/p>\n

But Liam Hicks\u2019 game-tying homer in the fifth and an RBI single from Owen Caissie in the eighth off reliever Jaden Hill sent the Rockies to their second defeat in as many days and their second 0-2 start in three years, 4-3<\/a> to the Miami Marlins on Saturday.<\/p>\n

It once again took the Rox a while to get into Miami\u2019s bullpen, as a Marlins starter went seven innings for the second-straight day, with Eury Perez scattering five hits and a walk over a 93-pitch performance while surrendering the two homers.<\/p>\n

Only Hunter Goodman managed to reach base in Colorado\u2019s final two innings against Miami relievers Calvin Faucher and Pete Fairbanks. He has three singles in eight at-bats over the first two games this year.<\/p>\n

ROCKIES STARTER\u2019S REPORT<\/p>\n

For four innings, Michael Lorenzen did well at damage control. He allowed five hits and plunked a pair of Marlins, driving his pitch count up to 81 heading into the fifth, but left two runners stranded in the second, third and fourth innings, only allowing a single run on a sacrifice fly.<\/p>\n

But it all crumbled in the fifth inning, with a one-out single by Agust\u00edn Ram\u00edrez followed by a cutter that settled on the inside corner of the zone, allowing Liam Hicks to club it over the right-field wall for the game-tying homer.<\/p>\n

Lorenzen\u2019s two hit batters were his most since he hit two Orioles on June 29, 2024 \u2014 41 starts ago. It was the second-straight day that Colorado\u2019s starter went 4 1\/3 innings after Kyle Freeland\u2019s start Friday.<\/a><\/p>\n

BITS AND PIECES<\/p>\n

IT WAS DECIDED FOR THE ROCKIES WHEN: Fairbanks retired Rumfield, Ryan Ritter and Brenton Doyle on nine pitches in the ninth.<\/p>\n

NUMBER TO NOTE: .105 \u2014 Average for the final three spots in the order the last two days, as the 7, 8 and 9 spots are a collective 2-for-19.<\/p>\n
