On Sunday, the Chicago Cubs<\/a> are looking to win their series (at Wrigley Field) against the Washington Nationals<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Each team has won one of the first two games.<\/p>\n

Before Sunday\u2019s game, the Cubs made a roster decision.<\/p>\n

Bruce Levine of WSCR-AM wrote:<\/a> \u201cCubs outright RHP Jack Neely to Iowa after he cleared waivers. Neely was DFA on Wednesday.\u201d<\/p>\n

Neely was picked by the New York Yankees<\/a> in the 11th round of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Ohio State.<\/p>\n

He has appeared in six total MLB<\/a> games (with the Cubs).<\/p>\n

The Yankees wrote (on July 30, 2024):<\/a> \u201cThe New York Yankees today announced that they have acquired right-handed pitcher Mark Leiter<\/a> Jr. from the Chicago Cubs in exchange for minor league infielder Ben Cowles<\/a> and right-handed pitcher Jack Neely.\u201d<\/p>\n

Neely\u2019s Minor League Career\"\"<\/p>\n

During the 2024 season<\/a>, Neely had a strong year in Double-A and Triple-A.<\/p>\n

He went 1-1 with a 2.86 ERA in 39 games.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s very possible that he will play well enough in Iowa to get another chance in the big leagues.<\/p>\n

Velocity is down a bit from prior looks, but the command looks improved and he\u2019s getting good extension. The slider has been his main weapon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cubs Right Now\"\"<\/p>\n

Following the Nationals, the Cubs will remain at home to host Mike Trout<\/a> and the Los Angeles Angels<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They will then head on their first road trip starting with a series on April 3 against the Cleveland Guardians in Ohio.<\/p>\n

The Cubs last won a title in 2016.<\/p>\n

They are coming off a year where they lost in the 2025 NLDS.<\/p>\n
