{"id":651333,"date":"2026-03-29T22:47:20","date_gmt":"2026-03-29T22:47:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/651333\/"},"modified":"2026-03-29T22:47:20","modified_gmt":"2026-03-29T22:47:20","slug":"guardians-tanner-bibee-gets-unfortunate-injury-update-ahead-of-next-start","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/651333\/","title":{"rendered":"Guardians\u2019 Tanner Bibee gets unfortunate injury update ahead of next start"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tanner Bibee\u2019s Opening Day start ended abruptly.<\/p>\n<p>Warming up before the bottom of the sixth inning Thursday at T-Mobile Park, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/mlb\/cleveland-guardians\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cleveland Guardians<\/a>\u2019 ace signaled right-shoulder discomfort.<\/p>\n<p>Immediately, manager Stephen Vogt, pitching coach Carl Willis and trainer Jeff Desjardins huddled on the mound to discuss the situation.<\/p>\n<p>A few moments later, Bibee exited and walked to the locker room to begin receiving strength testing treatments.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the media after the Guardians\u2019 6-4 win, Bibee said he felt \u201cpretty good,\u201d as <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mlb.com\/news\/tanner-bibee-leaves-opening-day-start-with-apparent-injury?msockid=0e66bbf14de266bf0771a95c4cce673e\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reported by MLB.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was kind of off and on the entire time,\u201d Bibee said of the shoulder issue. \u201cIt kind of got to a point where I feel like I couldn&#8217;t really battle through it and give my best stuff. It got to a point where I didn&#8217;t want to hurt myself or the team in turn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bibee remains questionable to make his next start Tuesday or Wednesday at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/us\/mlb\/los-angeles-dodgers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Dodgers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Tanner Bibee fighting new shoulder inflammation<\/p>\n<p>Bibee entered spring training expected to front the rotation as the Guardians attempt to repeat as AL Central champions. He yielded three runs on four hits in five innings during his first career Opening Day start.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to Thursday, Bibee said he did not experience shoulder discomfort. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After exiting, Bibee performed strength-testing drills to combat the inflammation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was examined,&#8221;\u00a0Vogt\u00a0 said. &#8220;He&#8217;s strong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite engaging in a 26-pitch bullpen session Saturday, the Guardians listed Bibee as day-to-day Sunday. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If needed, the Guardians\u2019 brass could summon left-hander Logan Allen from Triple-A Columbus to make Tuesday\u2019s start at the Los Angeles Dodgers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Tanner Bibee\u2019s Opening Day start ended abruptly.
