The Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> are moving some pieces around at the edge of the roster.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, they made a trade with the Miami Marlins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The deal was reported by insider Francys Romero<\/a>:<\/p>\n

Blue Jays get prospect Dub Gleed and $250,000 in international bonus pool money.Marlins get infielder Leo Jimenez.<\/p>\n

Jimenez didn’t make the Opening Day roster, but he didn’t have any minor league options remaining, so he had to pass through waivers.<\/p>\n

Before that happened, the Marlins decided to make this trade for him.<\/p>\n

Jimenez is just 24 years old, and he has a .229 batting average in 210 MLB plate appearances across the last two seasons.<\/p>\n

He actually has a 101 wRC+ in his MLB career, which means he’s been one percent better than a league average hitter at creating runs.<\/p>\n

The Blue Jays didn’t have space for him in the infield, though, and now the Marlins will try to make room.<\/p>\n

Gleed, whose full name is William Stanton Gleed despite going by Dub, was a ninth-round pick in the 2024 MLB Draft out of UC-Irvine.<\/p>\n

He has reached Double-A for 27 games and Triple-A for a single game.<\/p>\n

In his minor league career, Gleed has a .252 average and a .737 OPS.<\/p>\n

He’s not regarded as a top-ranking prospect, but he still has room to develop into a potential utility infielder.<\/p>\n

It’s a good job by the Blue Jays to get something for a guy who didn’t make their roster.<\/p>\n
