The New York Mets<\/a>‘ fanbase took a few games.<\/p>\n

But now, they’re booing Bo Bichette — and he knows he deserves it.<\/p>\n

Bichette has started his career with the Mets with a 1-for-14 line at the plate along with some struggles throwing the ball as he takes over a new position at third base.<\/p>\n

On a contract paying him $42 million per year, Bichette knows the expectations are high.<\/p>\n

And sure, it’s really early.<\/p>\n

Bichette is actually surprised it took this long for the boos, though.<\/p>\n

“If anything, I thought it took too long,” Bichette said of the time it took for fans to start booing him, via MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bichette’s bat is the key to his tenure with the Mets. He’s been known as one of the purest hitters in baseball since he came to the majors with the Toronto Blue Jays<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Mets didn’t sign him for his glove. He was a below-average shortstop, and so they moved him off that position.<\/p>\n

Now, he’s playing third base, a spot he had never played a single MLB inning at before this season began. It hasn’t started great.<\/p>\n

It’ll be a lot easier to tolerate struggles at the hot corner if Bichette’s bat heats up.<\/p>\n

Until that happens, the boos might keep coming. And Bichette won’t blame the fans for bringing that energy, either. He knows he has to be better.<\/p>\n
