The Boston Red Sox<\/a> and Milwaukee Brewers made a six-player trade in the offseason that landed Caleb Durbin, Andruw Monasterio and Anthony Seigler in Boston.<\/p>\n

The Red Sox gave up left-handed pitchers Kyle Harrison and Shane Drohan and infielder David Hamilton to execute the trade. Harrison was one of the four players the Red Sox got back in the surprising Rafael Devers trade last year. Harrison only appeared in three games for the Red Sox and made two starts.<\/p>\n

Harrison made 12 minor league starts for the Red Sox as well. He had a 3.75 ERA with Triple-A Worcester and a 3.00 ERA with the Red Sox in the big leagues. He has a 4.33 career ERA in the big leagues, but he looked phenomenal in his Brewers debut on Monday.<\/p>\n

Harrison went five innings, allowing just one run and four hits. He issued just one walk and struck out eight batters. He threw 64 of his 87 pitches for strikes. His eighth strikeouts were the most he’s had in a game since July 26, 2024, as a member of the San Francisco Giants.<\/p>\n

Harrison gave up a home run on the fifth pitch of the game, but settled in afterwards. He relied heavily on his four-seam fastball. His second most-used pitch on the night was his slider. He picked up six strikeouts on his fastball, one on his slider and one on his changeup. He got 16 whiffs on the night as well.<\/p>\n

Harrison won a job in the Brewers’ rotation during spring training. An injury to Quinn Priester also helped pave the way for his spot, but if he continues to pitch as he did on Monday, he could turn into the next pitcher in a long line of Milwaukee Brewers pitching development stories. Just last season, the Brewers acquired Priester from the Red Sox and turned him into an elite starter in their rotation.<\/p>\n

The Brewers went 21-8 in games Priester pitched in. They are hoping they can get similar results out of the latest Red Sox pitcher they have acquired.<\/p>\n
