On Monday evening, the San Francisco Giants<\/a> played the Padres<\/a> (in San Diego).<\/p>\n

The Giants<\/a> won by a score of 3-2 to get their first victory of the 2026 season.<\/p>\n

They are now 1-3 in four games.<\/p>\n

Before their game against the Padres, the Giants<\/a> announced that they had made a trade with the Detroit Tigers.<\/p>\n

SF <\/a>Giants<\/a> wrote (via X):<\/a> \u201cRHP Dylan Smith<\/a> was acquired by the Giants from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for cash considerations. Smith has been optioned to Triple-A Sacramento.\u201d<\/p>\n

Smith was picked in the third round of the 2021 MLB<\/a> Draft.<\/p>\n

He is coming off a year where he went 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA in seven games for the Tigers.<\/p>\n

The Giants are coming off a season where they missed the MLB playoffs (despite having a talented roster).<\/p>\n

Following their series with the Padres, the Giants will head back to San Francisco to host the New York Mets<\/a> on April 2.<\/p>\n

Smith could turn out to be a solid addition for the organization based on his sample size with the Tigers last year.<\/p>\n
