Batting  leadoff, Vargas drove in Everson Pereira with a single in the third inning.  Hays\u2019 homer to right field quickly made it 4-0. Vargas\u2019 slam in the fourth gave  the White Sox an 8-0 cushion. Luisangel Acu\u00f1a scored in the sixth on Vargas\u2019  sacrifice fly. Munetaka Murakami went 1 for 5 with a single for Chicago, ending  his home run streak at three games. Liam Hicks homered and knocked in three  runs for Miami.<\/p>\n<p>Cubs 7, Angels 2 \u2013 Cabrera and Happ help the Cubs beat  the Angels 7-2 in series opener<br \/>Edward Cabrera pitched six shutout innings, Ian Happ  hit a solo homer and the Chicago Cubs beat the Los Angeles Angels 7-2. Cabrera  allowed one hit and walked one in his Chicago debut, delighting the crowd of  36,702 on a picturesque night at Wrigley Field. The 6-foot-5 right-hander was  acquired in a January trade with Miami. Carson Kelly and Mois\u00e9s Ballesteros  each drove in two runs for the Cubs in the opener of a three-game series. Wembanyama had 10 points and 10 rebounds in his first 8 minutes, 31  seconds on the court, collecting his 10th rebound 1:55 into the second quarter.  Stephon Castle added 19 points, nine assists and eight rebounds for San  Antonio.<\/p>\n<p>Thunder 114, Pistons 110 \u2013 OT \u2013 SGA erupts for 47  points as Thunder outlast Pistons 114-110 in OT<br \/>Shai Gilgeous-Alexander powered the Oklahoma City  Thunder past the Detroit Pistons, scoring 47 points in a 114-110 overtime win.  The reigning league MVP and strong candidate to repeat made 12 of 19 field  goals and 21 of 25 free throws. Oklahoma City earned its 60th win and stayed on  top in the Western Conference. The Thunder looked sluggish after defeating the  New York Knicks the night before, and Detroit hung around despite missing  several starters. Paul Reed had 21 points and 10 rebounds, Javonte Green scored  19 points and Kevin Huerter added 17 for the Pistons.<\/p>\n<p>Tonight<br \/>Toronto  Raptors at Detroit Pistons, 8:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>NBA \u2013 Bulls waive guard Jaden Ivey after anti-LGBTQ  comments about religion on IG<br \/>The Chicago Bulls waived guard Jaden Ivey on Monday in  the wake of anti-LGBTQ comments and remarks about religion he made in a series  of videos on his Instagram account. Ivey criticized the NBA for celebrating  Pride Month and what he described as \u201cunrighteousness.\u201d He also wondered why  when \u201cgospel is preached that people hate it.\u201d Coach Billy Donovan said the  Bulls have employees from \u201call different walks of life\u201d and Ivey\u2019s comments  don\u2019t reflect the values of the organization. Chicago acquired Ivey from Detroit  in a three-team trade on Feb. 3. Both people spoke on condition of anonymity Sunday  because the conversations are private. The league and the NFL Referees  Association have been negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement since  the summer of 2024. The current CBA expires on May 31.
