\u201cThe last I read a couple days ago, he has no symptoms. He\u2019s pain-free,\u201d Roberts said in his postgame press conference Monday. \u201cHe is throwing. I don\u2019t know the distance or when he\u2019s going to be off the mound though.\u201d<\/p>\n
When asked further about his progression, Roberts described Stone\u2019s status as \u201cpre-spring training.\u201d<\/p>\n
Roberts has been optimistic since Stone\u2019s minor setback, saying the Dodgers \u201cdodged a bullet<\/a>\u201d with his injury.<\/p>\n Stone last pitched for the Dodgers in the regular season in 2024, leading the team in innings despite going down with injury late in the year. He had a 3.53 ERA through 25 starts spanning 140.1 innings, and struck out 116 batters in that time.<\/p>\n As it stands, the Dodgers have a pretty set rotation and expect starter Blake Snell to make his return to the team by the end of May<\/a>.<\/p>\n Currently, the Dodgers\u2019 rotation consists of Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, Tyler Glasnow and Emmet Sheehan, not leaving much room for Stone once Snell makes his return to the team.<\/p>\n The likeliest place for Stone to start when he comes back to the team is in Triple-A, as the Dodgers also sent River Ryan to Oklahoma City following his return from Tommy John surgery.<\/p>\n That\u2019s not to say Stone won\u2019t play for the MLB club this year, though, as he\u2019s proven a valuable arm at the top level and provides valuable depth for a team who is pushing for their first three-peat.<\/p>\n For the time being, though, he\u2019ll focus on a return to help the Dodgers as soon as possible.
