It’s just that the history of baseball is quirky, and Weathers is now a part of it.

Weathers finished the night going 4.1 innings, allowing 4 hits and 2 walks, giving up 1 earned run and striking out 7.

The social media account Pitchergami looks at every starting pitcher stat line to determine whether that specific combination of five numbers (IP/H/ER/BB/K) has ever happened before.

Weathers’ line had never happened before.

🚨 PITCHERGAMI 🚨

Ryan Weathers just threw a line that has NEVER happened in MLB history:

4.1 IP | 4 H | 1 ER | 2 BB | 7 K

NYY @ SEA
That’s the 18th Pitchergami of 2026 and 1 of 83,242+ unique lines on record.

— Pitchergami (@pitchergami) March 31, 2026

MORE: Terrance Gore’s son honors dad with perfect first pitch

The unique key here for Weathers was likely the fact that he didn’t even go five innings but also only gave up one run, and compiled a solid strikeout total.

Usually pitchers who give up just one run would last longer than that. Or if they came out early, it may be due to injury, and the strikeout number wouldn’t be as high.

But in the first start of the season, the Yankees didn’t push Weathers too deep into the game. They got a solid outing from him over four-plus innings, then allowed the bullpen to come in and try to keep it rolling.

The Yankees’ offense struggled, though, and the Mariners walked it off with a 2-1 win in the bottom of the ninth.

More MLB news:

Ryan Weathers made his New York Yankees debut on Monday night in Seattle.
