The Los Angeles Angels got off to a decent start to the season. LA took the first two games of the series against the Houston Astros but dropped the last two. While the starting rotation was a little concerning at times, there are signs that it wasn’t as bad as the numbers suggest.<\/p>\n
The top of the rotation was unsurprisingly strong. Jos\u00e9 Soriano rewarded the team’s trust in him to take the ball on Opening Day <\/a>with six shutout innings. He struck out seven batters en route to a 3-0 win over their AL West rival.<\/p>\n Yusei Kikuchi fought through 4\u2153 innings while giving up just two runs. He pitched through a lot of traffic \u2014 surrendering eight hits and one walk \u2014 but he battled through and limited the damage which led to another win.<\/p>\n Angels have bright spots in rotation despite uneven start to season<\/p>\n Reid Detmers returned to the rotation after a solid performance as a bullpen arm last season and made it through 4\u2154 innings while allowing three earned runs on six hits. He stuck out an impressive nine batters and his stuff looked great.<\/p>\n Jack Kochanowicz, looking to bounce back after a rough 2025<\/a>, took the ball on Sunday and had a rough go of it, allowing five earned runs through four innings. Most of the traffic created on the base paths was of his own making. <\/p>\n
