{"id":656053,"date":"2026-04-01T06:47:21","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T06:47:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/656053\/"},"modified":"2026-04-01T06:47:21","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T06:47:21","slug":"rockies-ryan-feltner-exits-vs-blue-jays-after-being-hit-by-comebacker","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/656053\/","title":{"rendered":"Rockies&#8217; Ryan Feltner exits vs. Blue Jays after being hit by comebacker"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TORONTO \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/baseball\/mlb\/teams\/colorado-rockies\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"colorado-rockies\" data-league=\"mlb\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Colorado Rockies<\/a> right-hander <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/baseball\/mlb\/players\/ryan-feltner\/87dfe721-2290-44ac-a106-0aa9e676bfbd\" class=\"sn-player-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-player=\"87dfe721-2290-44ac-a106-0aa9e676bfbd\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ryan Feltner<\/a> left Tuesday\u2019s start against the Toronto Blue Jays two batters after he was struck by a 106 mph line drive.<\/p>\n<p>The Rockies said Feltner exited because of a right glute contusion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFelt\u2019s going to be fine,\u201d manager Warren Schaeffer said after\u00a0Colorado lost 5-1. \u201cHe took a hard line drive off the hip. Tightened up in between innings so not able to go back out, but I think we avoided something bad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Feltner said he was sore after being hit but didn&#8217;t expect to miss a start.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt got me in a good spot,\u201d he said. \u201cI&#8217;m lucky in that way but it&#8217;s definitely starting to get pretty stiff right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Feltner retired the first eight batters in order before he was hit by a liner off the bat of Blue Jays infielder Andr\u00e9s Gim\u00e9nez. The ball struck Feltner near his hip and rolled away for an infield single.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust got all muscle,\u201d Feltner said.<\/p>\n<p>Schaeffer and the trainer checked on Feltner, who remained in the game. George Springer followed with a walk but Feltner ended the inning by getting Jes\u00fas S\u00e1nchez to ground out on the first pitch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe showed some guts there, going through injury,\u201d Schaeffer said. \u201cWhen he covered first to end the inning there, he was kind of hobbling around a little bit. He gave us all he had.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Feltner struck out four in his three innings. Juan Mejia took over in the fourth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought Felt was exceptional in those three innings,\u201d Schaeffer said. \u201cHe attacked in the zone. I was very proud of him tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2023,\u00a0Feltner was hospitalized because of a skull fracture and concussion\u00a0after getting hit by a line drive off the bat of Philadelphia\u2019s Nick Castellanos.<\/p>\n<p>Feltner didn&#8217;t pitch after April 28 last season because of back and shoulder issues.
