Perhaps it\u2019s the cold weather, perhaps it\u2019s lack of adjustment to the batter\u2019s eye, perhaps it\u2019s lack of momentum for key stars who played in the World Baseball classic &#8211; but this is a ball yard that has seen a whole lot of \u201cslow starts that will even out\u201d turn out to be the tone set for the entire year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"sqsrte-large\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">And when teams like the Yankees, Blue Jays, and Astros clearly have all their ducks in a row on the first weekend, putting up a goose egg at home against one of the league\u2019s best teams isn\u2019t the best of signs.<\/p>\n<p>Gilbert\u2019s splitter looks limited in his outing against New York, but a better middle-inning pitch mix offers a way forward.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"sqsrte-large\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\" data-rte-preserve-empty=\"true\">Despite being Seattle\u2019s opening day starter, it doesn\u2019t quite look like Logan Gilbert has yet reached the ace potential billing he has long come with.
