Answer the poll below<\/p>\n<p>This kid just had the moment of his life by catching the first home run ball of the Toronto Blue Jays\u2019 50th season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Charlie Kramer, an 11-year-old boy from Chicago, Illinois, made the catch when he was visiting Canada with his parents.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even though he lives in the United States, he cheers for the Blue Jays because his dad is from Toronto, Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>On March 28, Charlie and his parents went to his very first Blue Jays game at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. It was the opening weekend for the 2026 Major League Baseball season.<\/p>\n<p>When Toronto\u2019s all-star catcher, Alejandro Kirk, launched a home run into the stands, Charlie reached out and caught it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s pretty special,\u201d Charlie told CBC News. \u201cIt was, like, the home run ball to tie the game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Jays went on to beat the Oakland Athletics 8-7.<\/p>\n<p>CBC Kids News contributor Maya Endale shares more about Charlie\u2019s unique catch in this video. \u00a0\u2b07\ufe0f\u2b07\ufe0f\u2b07\ufe0f<\/p>\n<p>The home run ball was also special for another reason: it was the first home run of the Jays\u2019 50th season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Blue Jays played their first game in March 1977. (Image submitted by Richard Kramer)\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That means the ball could have a little more than just sentimental value. It could eventually be worth a lot of money as a fan collectible.<\/p>\n<p>But Charlie\u2019s dad, Richard, says they have no plans to sell the ball.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re going to keep it,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Expectations are sky-high for the Blue Jays this season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the team was crowned American League champions and went to the World Series, but they lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 7.<\/p>\n<p>The American League championship banner was raised at the Rogers Centre as part of the opening weekend celebrations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Fans are hoping this is the Jays\u2019 comeback season.<\/p>\n<p>Charlie will be watching from Chicago, and his family is planning to return this summer to watch another game in Toronto.<\/p>\n<p>But it might be hard to beat his first game experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Have more questions?
