It was a solid night for Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Jake Bauers, but there was one moment that caught the attention of Major League Baseball fans.<\/p>\n

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Bauers hit a hard line drive to Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Ben Williamson. The ball bounced off his glove, and Williamson’s throw to first base went wide left.<\/p>\n

The play should have been ruled a Rays error, but Tampa Bay attempted to tag Bauers out, and first base umpire C.B. Bucknor ruled him out, believing the Brewers infielder did not tag first base. Milwaukee challenged the play, and the replay clearly showed Bauers stepped on first, causing another blunder for Bucknor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, while MLB fans had a field day<\/a> over Bucknor’s blown call, Bauers took the high road<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I’m sure there will be more impactful calls turned over than what we’ve had so far, but just with everyone getting their feet wet, it’s always good to tap the helmet and be right,” Bauers told reporters, per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.<\/p>\n

Reporters tried to get Bauers to open up more about the call, but the 30-year-old couldn’t help but laugh and only admitted he was happy with video challenges. The MLB veteran also joked about how the reporters were trying to get him in trouble, so it’s likely he’ll avoid a fine since he didn’t mention Bucknor directly.<\/p>\n

Bauers’ offense also was the highlight when he hit a solo home run as part of the Brewers’ 6-2 win<\/a> over the Rays at American Family Field on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
