After starting the season 3-2, which is solid, Atlanta still needs to be wary of its starting rotation, especially if more injuries pile up.<\/p>\n<p>A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/articles\/25412440-10-best-mlb-trade-chips-2026-season\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">piece by Bleacher Report\u2019s Zachary D. Rymer<\/a> named 10 potential trade chips for the 2026 season, and <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"San Diego Padres\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/mlb\/san-diego-padres\/\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"211148\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">San Diego Padres<\/a> starter <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/mlb\/player\/nicholas-pivetta\/\" title=\"Nick Pivetta\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"211162\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nick Pivetta<\/a> found himself on the list, and the Braves were listed as a possible trade destination for the $55 million starter.<\/p>\n<p>To no surprise, the Braves were listed as a possible landing spot for many of the starting pitchers <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/mlb\/atlanta-braves\/braves-trade-pitch-lands-athletics-two-time-all-star-starter-luis-severino\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">(Luis Severino<\/a>, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/mlb\/player\/joseph-ryan\/\" title=\"Joe Ryan\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"211164\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joe Ryan<\/a>) named in the piece by BR.<\/p>\n<p>More <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"MLB\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/mlb\/\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"211150\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MLB<\/a> on Heavy: <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/mlb\/atlanta-braves\/braves-trade-pitch-lands-athletics-two-time-all-star-starter-luis-severino\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Braves Trade Pitch Lands Athletics\u2019 2X All-Star, $45 Million Ace<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Braves-Padres Trade Pitch Lands Nick Pivetta in Atlanta<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5647151\" class=\"size-inline wp-image-5647151\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2232931115-e1765311542408.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"782\" height=\"440\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5647151\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettyNick Pivetta had a stellar first season with the San Diego Padres in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Piggybacking off Rymer floating Nick Pivetta\u2019s name as a trade candidate, the Atlanta Braves should be seen as an ideal landing spot for the 10-year MLB veteran.<\/p>\n<p>In this trade idea by Heavy on Sports, the Braves acquire Nick Pivetta from the San Diego Padres in return for Jonah Heim and infielder\/utility <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/mlb\/player\/ignacio-alvarez\/\" title=\"Nacho Alvarez\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"211160\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nacho Alvarez<\/a> Jr.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">\u201cPivetta would be a hot item on the trade market if he were made available. He had the best season of his career in 2025, posting a 2.87 ERA over 181.2 innings. Even before that, his stuff always rated well, suggesting such a breakout was inevitable,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/articles\/25412440-10-best-mlb-trade-chips-2026-season\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rymer wrote.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-bp_small__body__article__medium css-1vqr2el\">\u201cDue to its backloaded salaries and complex structure, Pivetta\u2019s contract wouldn\u2019t make a trade easy to figure out. But for any team motivated to get a top-of-the-rotation starter, none of that would be a deal-breaker.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pivetta has made just one start in 2026, and he was touched up for six earned runs over three innings.
