The Kansas City Royals have plenty to focus on this season in their quest to make it back to the postseason in 2026.<\/p>\n
And for the most part through four games, so far so good. Sure the offense could be better and Carlos Est\u00e9vez has caused some headaches in the backend of the bullpen<\/a>, but a 2-2 record hasn’t put them behind the early eight-ball whatsoever and their starting staff looks phenomenal<\/a> for the most part.<\/p>\n Everything seems fine in the Royals sphere right now.<\/p>\n However, there was one thing that surfaced recently that Royals fans likely weren’t expecting to hear and that was Bobby Witt Jr.’s unusual ranking of his favorite stadiums to play in<\/a>.<\/p>\n Now, unsurprisingly, Witt had Kauffman Stadium in his top five along with his hometown Texas Rangers’ ballpark, Globe Life Field. But what could make Royals fans touched worried, or even just raise their eyebrows, was the fact that it wasn’t his top choice, coming in at No. 4.<\/p>\n Now everyone has their preferences, but the fact Witt’s top three were all stadiums of big market powerhouses in the Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs and the New York Yankees isn’t exactly mind-easing.<\/p>\n Bobby Witt Jr.\u2019s Top 5 ballparks to play at:<\/p>\n 1. Fenway Park (via @See_Hendo<\/a>) pic.twitter.com\/JAqvrdhd3M<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Talkin’ Baseball (@TalkinBaseball_) March 29, 2026<\/a>Should Royals fans be concerned about Witt’s interest in big market stadiums?<\/p>\n Luckily for Royals fans not only is Witt guaranteed to be in a Royals uniform through 2030, but his list seems based more on historical aspects than anything.<\/p>\n “Fenway Park is up there at the top because I grew up a Red Sox fan,” Witt said. “Amazing stadium, the history behind it.”<\/p>\n “I’d say Wrigley is up there too just because of the history.” he said. “I just love those old ballparks.”<\/p>\n Now, history aside, given how MLB free agency has gone down in recent years with big market teams seemingly holding a monopoly over top talent and no clear way of knowing just what’s in store for the future of it<\/a> with the CBA expiring after this season, the fact that three big markets top this list is enough to put even a sliver of worry in the minds of the Royals faithful – given the fact that Kansas City isn’t exactly a financial competitor to any of those teams.<\/p>\n However, the Royals are coming into their own competitively and if 2014 and 2015 taught us anything, it’s that this franchise is more than capable of competing under the financial parameters they’ve historically possessed. <\/p>\n Witt’s list is likely not the one Royals fans wanted to hear, but their focus should be on the lucrative long-term commitment he and the team have already made to each other.<\/p>\n
