It’s part of the reason why baseball is the best. In this scenario, we’re talking about a 22-year-old infield prospect who isn’t even a top-25 prospect for his club. But he’s in the big leagues now and launched two homers in just his first game. That’s obviously not common. Overall, he went 3-for-4 in his big league debut with the two homers and four RBIs.

Over the course of the season, we’re going to see obscure history like this all the time. But that doesn’t make it any less special. When you have this much data, something new happens all the time. For example, the New York Yankees have allowed just three runs so far this season in five games, which is the fewest since 1943. Shohei Ohtani is leading the league with the longest active on-base streak (36 games) and the longest active scoreless inning streak (22 2/3 innings pitched). That’s insane.

Major League Baseball is the best and what Fernández was able to do on Tuesday night is a perfect example of why. You can quickly go from someone who isn’t a household name to Major League Baseball history in just one game. There are just seven other players in league history who were able to do what Fernández did on Tuesday. The Shohei Ohtanis and Aaron Judges of the world didn’t accomplish the feat. But, Fernández did.

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Detroit Tigers faced off on Tuesday night and the contest made a bit of…

[2386
5,147,53,2583,4,594
0":"post-657020","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-detroit-tigers","8":"tag-baseball","9":"tag-detroit","10":"tag-detroit-tigers","11":"tag-detroittigers","12":"tag-mlb","13":"tag-tigers
["GET
