The Colorado Rockies<\/a> have made some announcements that result in one player returning to the roster and another going to the minors.<\/p>\n

Tyler Freeman Reinstated, Braxton Fulford to Minors<\/p>\n

Infielder and outfielder Freeman could provide some help for the Rockies’ leadoff position. They need to get something going, especially since Jake McCarthy<\/a> is struggling so far.<\/p>\n

The Rockies announced today the following transactions: <\/p>\n

– INF\/OF Tyler Freeman has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list.
– C Braxton Fulford has been optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a bit surprising that Colorado didn\u2019t send McCarthy instead of Fulford because Fulford has been performing better than him. Only the front office can answer those questions. Freeman is back from the injured list, and now he must deliver right away.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Freeman got some batting practice during the Blue Jays series. Although he didn\u2019t complete his rehab assignment, it seems like Freeman feels good and ready to go. Rushing back after an injury is never the right approach. If Freeman is not rushing, if the Rockies organization is not rushing him, then we will see how he bounces back.<\/p>\n

Freeman is in his second season with the Rockies. He batted .281 last season in 110 games with 106 hits and 20 RBIs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fulford might be feeling bummed out about getting sent to Triple A. He\u2019s got off to a sensational start for the team. In five at-bats, Fulford was hitting .400 with one home run, 2 RBIs, and a 1.400 OPS. We know it\u2019s only the beginning of the season. The Rockies should\u2019ve been a little more patient with him or given him a chance to continue to flourish.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Getting sent down to the minors might make him a better player or, for the time being, diminish his hot hitting. Fulford should use this as a sign for him to become stronger mentally and physically. It\u2019s certainly not a good day for him, but he has to control what he can control.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Baseball is a business at the end of the day, and results matter. The 27-year-old still has time to have a breakthrough season. Fulford was drafted by the Rockies in 2021 in the sixth round. He played 38 games last season, his rookie year. Let\u2019s see if he can play for more than 50 or 100 games this season. It all depends on his performance and durability.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As for the team overall, they are trying to capture their second win of the season today in the series finale against the Blue Jays.<\/a> The Rockies couldn\u2019t get the best of veteran pitcher Max Scherzer last night.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A series win over the Blue Jays will be a great boost for the team heading into the next series.\u00a0<\/p>\n
