{"id":657390,"date":"2026-04-01T20:56:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T20:56:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/657390\/"},"modified":"2026-04-01T20:56:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T20:56:19","slug":"red-sox-predicted-to-trade-for-nationals-all-star-infielder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/657390\/","title":{"rendered":"Red Sox Predicted to Trade for Nationals&#8217; All-Star Infielder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img width=\"760\" height=\"426\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2155353329-1-e1761684317412.jpg\" class=\"attachment-featured-image size-featured-image wp-post-image\" alt=\"Craig Breslow\"   decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"\/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGetty\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Boston Red Sox Chief Baseball Officer Craig Breslow<\/p>\n<p>It might be a little early to start thinking about trades that may transpire across <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/mlb\/\" title=\"MLB\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"211659\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">MLB<\/a>, but it\u2019s always fun to speculate who could be on the move later this summer, and which teams might make moves.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent predictions piece, <a href=\"https:\/\/fansided.com\/mlb\/way-too-early-mlb-trade-deadline-preview-these-stars-won-t-survive-july\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u2018Way-too-early MLB trade deadline preview\u2019<\/a>, by FanSided\u2019s Austin Owens, the MLB writer predicts that the <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/mlb\/boston-red-sox\/\" title=\"Boston Red Sox\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"211658\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boston Red Sox<\/a> will make a splash move for Washington Nationals\u2019 All-Star infielder CJ Abrams.<\/p>\n<p>CJ Abrams picked up some trade speculation all offseason, as the Nationals made some \u2018selling\u2019 moves, but ultimately he ended up staying put to start the season, and surprisingly, the Nationals are off to a solid start to the 2026 season.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5751251\" class=\"size-inline wp-image-5751251\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/cj-abrams-boston-red-sox.jpg\" alt=\"CJ Abrams, Washington Nationals\" width=\"782\" height=\"440\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5751251\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettyWashington Nationals\u2019 infielder CJ Abrams (Photo by Ronald Martinez\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>More MLB on Heavy: <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/mlb\/new-york-yankees\/yankees-predicted-to-trade-jasson-dominguez-to-cardinals-another-outfielder-ivan-herrera\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yankees Predicted to Trade Jasson Dominguez to Cardinals for Another Outfielder + Ivan Herrera<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Red Sox Predicted to Land CJ Abrams in Mid-Season Deal<\/p>\n<p>The idea behind the piece by Owens is that a handful of MLB stars will not make it past the MLB trade deadline, and it\u2019s fair to think CJ Abrams could be one of those players:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the last three seasons, Washington Nationals<a href=\"https:\/\/fansided.com\/mlb\/washington-nationals\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0<\/a>shortstop CJ Abrams has quietly become one of the most consistent players across the league. hitting at least .245 with nearly 20 homers and 60+ RBI in each of his last three campaigns. His defense at short leaves something to be desired, but at the age of 25, he is unfairly viewed more as a veteran now than a rising talent. There\u2019s still room to grow here, and the athleticism isn\u2019t in question.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Red Sox are off to a bit of a slow start this season, which might highlight their need for an infielder.
