TAMPA \u2014 The Tampa Bay Rays division rivals, the New York Yankees, are backing the Rays push to build a new stadium right next to their spring training facility.<\/p>\n
Steinbrenner Field is located next to Hillsborough College and Raymond James Stadium.<\/p>\n
It wouldn’t go anywhere if the Rays do end up building a stadium in that area.<\/p>\n
The Yankees released a statement saying they support the construction of a new ballpark next door as long as it doesn’t impact funding for other sports venues in the area \u2014 including theirs.<\/p>\n
“Maintaining and enhancing all of our venues in a first-class fashion should remain a priority for ensuring the sustained ascent of Hillsborough County and the greater Tampa Bay region,” the team’s statement.<\/p>\n
This isn’t the first time the Yankees have shown support for their rival.<\/p>\n
Last year, the Yankees allowed the Rays to re-fashion Steinbrenner Field with Rays signage and play the entirety of the 2025 season there while Tropicana Field was being repaired from the 2024 hurricanes.<\/p>\n
