The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportingnews.com\/ca\/mlb\/st-louis-cardinals\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">St. Louis Cardinals<\/a> had walked-off the Mets, 2-1.<\/p>\n<p>Benge had the odds in his favor of catching the ball, though.<\/p>\n<p>Statcast said that the blooper had a <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TheWARmonger_\/status\/2039460425784312250?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">75% catch probability<\/a>. That&#8217;s based on fielder positioning and historical data. It definitely could&#8217;ve been shaping up for a huge collision.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, no one catches the ball, and the runner on third gets to trot home and win the baseball game.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s no guarantee the Mets would&#8217;ve scored as the game went on, but at least they would&#8217;ve still had a chance.<\/p>\n<p>In this case, it was game over as soon as that ball dropped.
