He debuted during the team&#8217;s inaugural season in 1962 and played with the team until 1979.<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"Former New York Mets first baseman Ed Kranepool in 2019.\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"636\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" class=\"standard-img\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/mlb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/6b5c530b4c77a981cbb3ab8b9dd305f1.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Former New York Mets first baseman Ed Kranepool in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf all the stats and records Ed accomplished throughout his career, the thing he was most proud of was that he spent his entire Major League career in a Mets uniform,\u201d former teammate Art Shamsky said in a statement. \u201cEd would be touched that the team will be wearing his number seven on their uniform all year long.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The square black patch with a white No. 7 will be worn on all of the Mets&#8217; jerseys.<\/p>\n<p>Ed Kranepool and his Mets&#8217; legacy<\/p>\n<p>The left-handed hitting Kranepool was an All-Star during the 1965 season and collected 1,418 hits \u2014 third-most in franchise history.
