TUCSON, Ariz. \u2014 Starting her junior season with a non-NCAA event, Bucknell\u2019s Evie Bliss finished third in the javelin at last Saturday\u2019s USATF Winter Long Throws National Championships held at the University of Arizona.<\/p>\n
It was a small but strong six-thrower field that included fellow Pennsylvania native Madison Wiltrout of Connellsville.<\/p>\n
Despite battling a troublesome stomach bug, Bliss carved out a third place finish on a throw of 54.79m (179-5). The mark arrived in her first attempt. Her second chance fouled. The third attempt flew 46.33m (152-0).<\/p>\n
Bliss rallied in the fourth throw for a mark of 53.05m (174-0). The fifth try fouled but she finished the day on a final distance of 47.69m (156-5).<\/p>\n
Last August, it was Bliss who topped Wiltrout for the javelin title at the USA Track and Field Championships at the University of Oregon with a throw of 189 feet, 6 inches with Wiltrout finishing second at 185 feet, 3 inches.<\/p>\n
Bliss and Bucknell return to action this weekend at the Colonial Relays hosted by William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Redbank Valley\u2019s Cam Wagner at Saint Francis threw at last weekend\u2019s Jim Taylor Duals at Susquehanna University and turned in a third-place finish in the discus (148 feet, 4 inches), 12th in the shot put (42 feet) and 17th in the hammer throw (135 feet, 9 inches).<\/p>\n
\u2014 Youngstown State freshman Mylee Harmon of Redbank Valley will be competing at Slippery Rock University\u2019s Dave Labor Invitational Friday and Saturday for her outdoor season debut.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Redbank Valley senior Madison Foringer of Clarion threw at the West Liberty University Tim Weaver Invitational last weekend and placed fifth in the hammer throw (137 feet, 4 inches) and 16th in the discus (91 feet, 5 inches).<\/p>\n
\u2014 Redbank Valley freshman Kaedyn Pago of California U. of Pa cleared the high jump bar at 5 feet, 8 3\/4 inches to finish 15th at the Carnegie Mellon University Invitational last weekend.<\/p>\n
BASEBALL<\/p>\n
\u2014 Westminster sophomore and former Redbank Valley standout Ty Carrier still hasn\u2019t allowed an earned run in his 15 2\/3 innings covering eight outings with the now 15-5 Titans. He\u2019s 2-0 with three saves, allowing 15 hits and no walks while striking out 15. He\u2019s given up one unearned run so far. In Sunday\u2019s 7-2 loss to Penn State Behrend, Carrier threw two scoreless innings while allowing two hits and striking out three.<\/p>\n
Also Sunday, Redbank Valley freshman Breckin Minich started at shortstop and went 1-for-3 with a double and run batted in. He\u2019s made six starts and appeared in 10 games and is hitting .391 (9-for-23) with four doubles and five RBIs.<\/p>\n
\u2014 Redbank Valley junior Tate Minich at Pitt-Johnstown is batting .229 (8-for-35) with a double, triple and home run and eight RBIs.
